Epilepsy Syndrome Names: Current and Prior

Hello my fellow squiggle readers,

I welcome you back to another news update in NDT. Just as our EEG terms have been renamed to better elucidate their morphology, our epilepsy syndromes have been renamed to provide additional clarity. These name changes expedite diagnosis and treatment as they remove individuals names and replace them with clear descriptions of the expected or mandatory seizure types, the prognosis, and presence or absence of genetic traits.

The attached document has not been verified for accuracy at this moment but will be over the next week or two. I did not want to delay its release for those taking their exams soon. If you find errors, don’t hesitate to let me know.

I’ve also created a quiz to help you review what you know about epilepsy syndromes and to help guide you in your study habits.

Our last two class periods have revolved around Epilepsy Syndromes and as I’ve highlighted there is a lot to know. Please feel free to print off the table below and fill it in as you study. We’ll tackle the board exam style questions in our next class period.
